Update on Rowdy (Jackson)

We have news from Rowdy's (now Jackson's) parents on his condition:

"The radiologist and two vets concur that Jackson has a rare condition called Teratology of Fallot, which according to Kahala Pet Hospital is inoperable.  At most little Jackson will live 1 to 2 years, but his life expectancy is really unknown.  They told us he could have a heart attack tomorrow  or pass out and not wake up.  They also said there may be medications that can help his body deal with the heart issues, but they will have to do some research and get back to us.  I did some research online last night and there are cases where they have preformed open heart surgery to repair the damaged areas as well surgeries to put a shunt, to open up the vessel so more oxygen can get into the blood stream.  The doctors and radiologist said that his condition is so rare that they have only seen it in text books."

We were hoping for much better news for the little guy!  However, the Oahu SPCA is still raising funds for his ongoing care and remain hopeful about his condition.  As of this morning the ticker at http://www.oahuspca.org/ showed a running total of $1,380 raised for Jackson!!

Mahalo to everyone for their tremendous support!!
