Celebrities and Their Pets Fashion Show

Jordan Segundo & Yasmin Dar
The Celebrities and Their Pets Fashion Show will be a featured entertainment segment at The Hawaii Woman Expo on September 10 and 11 at The Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. The Expo will be held from 10 a.m. til 6 p.m. and the Celebrities with their pets will walk the runway at 12:30 p.m. on both dates. The twist to this special event is that the Celebrities are not the ones wearing the fashions, the pets will be the ones dressed in designer outfits.

The purpose of this unique fashion show is to bring awareness to pet adoption and encourage volunteerism and foster homes for dogs and cats at the Oahu SPCA. Representatives from the organization will be in attendance to provide information on how to adopt a lovable pet from The Oahu SPCA or how to be a foster family to a homeless dog. The Celebrities will proudly walk or carry their pets on the runway and will show the audience how wonderful it is to have a pet as a member of your family. The Celebrities that do not already own a pet will walk the runway holding a puppy from the Oahu SPCA that needs a forever-home.

A fashion show would not be complete without a designer and great clothing. Monica Shigenaga, Owner/Designer of Cocojor creates award winning doggie apparel for dogs around the world and for pets of Hollywood Celebrities. She sells her doggie apparel online at http://www.cocojor.com/ and at Cocojor Dog Emporium & Spaw located at 975 Kapiolani Blvd. The pets in this fashion show will be wearing designs by Cocojor.

Al Waterson will be the emcee for this special event and Celebrities and VIPs in the entertainment industry will include names such as Jordan Segundo, Yasmin Dar, Tani Lynn Fujimoto, Emme Tomimbang, Garry Moore, Olena Heu, Mahea Richardson, Tammy Mori, Taimane Gardner, Margaret Doversola, Greg Gabaylo, Mel Fausto (SOS LV), Riya Davis and more.

Admission to The Hawaii Woman Expo is $3.00 and you can enjoy The Celebrities and Their Pets Fashion Show at 12:30 p.m. on September 10 and 11, as well as the other activities at the expo throughout the day. Great entertainment for the whole family and for animal lovers!

Paradise for Pets

Isn't it time you AND your four-legged family went on a fabulous staycation?

The newly launched Paradise Bay Resort on the shores of Kaneohe Bay in Windward Oahu is offering pets and their parents a staycation package with all of the creature comforts and the added bonus of benefiting a local animal rescue facility. With the "Pets in Paradise" package, pets stay free and enjoy plush in-room pet beds, doggie bowls, healthy treats and toys, plus pets and their parents receive half-off spa services. In addition, ten percent of the "Pets in Paradise" bookings benefit the OahuSPCA.

Resort owner Stephanie Ryan is no stranger to making pets a part of peoples’ lives. As founder and president of the OahuSPCA, the primary animal welfare organization on Oahu that fosters or shelters companion animals, she oversees the rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of more than 100 animals each month. "We’re so pleased we could launch our newly-renovated resort with a pet-friendly package," said Ryan. "With proceeds of each ‘Pets in Paradise’ booking during July and August benefitting animals in need, we’re creating a win-win for people and pets."

Offering stunning views of the majestic Ko’olau Mountains and beautiful Kaneohe Bay, Paradise Bay Resort offers one of the best-kept secrets on Oahu. The boutique bed-and-breakfast style hotel and resort features a range of accommodations, from one-bedroom standard suites to two bedroom waterfront suites. All rooms come with full kitchenettes or wet bars, plush bedding, complimentary daily breakfast, free WiFi, complimentary parking, and maid service.

In addition, Paradise Bay Resort features a pool with jetted spa, landscaped grounds, and on-call spa services. Guests also enjoy access to a number of exciting ocean activities on property, including kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, guided eco-tours and boat excursions to the Sandbar. In addition, the Resort offers a complimentary Hawaiian Cuisines, Music and Mai Tai Night every Wednesday and an Aloha Hour on Friday evenings.

The "Pets in Paradise" package is available on all bookings through September 30, 2011. A minimum two-night stay is required. Rates are subject to availability and some black-out dates may apply. For reservations, call toll-free 800-735-5071 or visit http://www.paradisebayresorthawaii.com/.

Happy Endings

In a single week, the Oahu SPCA found new homes for 29 dogs and cats.  This not only gives them a second chance at happiness, but also gives 29 more animals the chance to come in from off the streets to live in a no-kill facility until they too find forever homes.  And so the cycle continues...

We cannot thank everyone enough for their support and continuous efforts to help animals in need!  You are the best!!
