Please consider adopting a senior dog! As mentioned earlier this year in a previous blog post, some of the pros to adopting an adult animal are that they are usually already trained, and you can already evaluate their mature personality to see if it fits with yours. Many times people also say adult shelter animals show their new owners extra love and gratitude for the rest of their lives, as they are able to fully appreciate the heroic act of being rescued from uncertainty.
To make it even easier to adopt one of our fabulous seniors, we are offering the following special:
SUMMER SPECIAL #2
"Seniors for Sixty"
Senior dogs ~ $60 adoption fee during July
(That's an incredible $140 off the regular fee!!)
(Senior status to be determined by shelter staff based on age and health)
Please visit us online at http://www.oahuspca.org/dogs_petango.html to see some of our adoptable senior dogs. Or better yet, visit us at the shelter as new faces are added all the time. We are located at 91-1839 Roosevelt Ave. in Kapolei and are open Tuesdays through Sundays from 10am to 3pm.

The two "seniors" pictured here are amazing guys.
ReplyDeleteBradley, in the top photo, is a real long-timer at the shelter. He's got a quirky personality, and, like I'm finding in myself as I age, he can be a bit grouchy when things don't go his way. He's portly and really needs a home where his people will make sure he's not overfed and will be consistent in their attempts to get him to exercise on a regular basis. If given the choice between sitting still and moving, Bradley will always choose the former (also, not unlike me).
Rhoady, in the bottom photo, hasn't been at the shelter nearly as long as Bradley, but he's a super dude of a dog! He takes life as it comes and doesn't get in a snit about anything. Unfortunately, Rhoady is heartworm positive; it would be wonderful if someone would take him home and be there for him through the recovery process.
Please, please, please come out to the shelter and meet these two guys, as well as our other seniors. I think you'll be glad you did.
